Well, 2016 has been a horrible year for legends. Prince’s death has hit me harder than I thought it would. It’s hard to believe that Prince is gone. It has been hard for me to focus and really get anything done. These past couple of weeks I have been listening and watching many of his performances.
I thought I would just write my feelings out and share with you some of my favorite Prince songs and sayings. The music may be taken down by his people, but I hope they leave some of it. They say that’s why a lot of the younger generation didn’t know much about him. His music was very hard to get on the internet, unless you bought it.
I’m an 80’s baby. Prince along with Michael Jackson, Duran Duran and INXS were my favorites. I think the saddest thing about Prince’s death for me is that we didn’t know much about him until after his death. All of these wonderful stories that are coming out about him makes me wish I had gotten to meet him at least once.
I love Jimmy Fallon’s story! I think it’s my favorite about Prince.
I only saw him live in concert once, on the Lovesexy Tour. I was hoping to see him again, but just couldn’t get tickets. Just recently he played a concert in Toronto and I wanted to go, but we were in Chicago that night.
I think D’Angelo’s cover of Sometimes it Snows in April says it all.

Yes, I need to get fit. I have a Duran Duran concert in July and class reunion in August. More than likely I will be going to the DD concert with my friend Paula. That means we will probably get backstage and I want to look good for my boys.
This would be my first class reunion. I haven’t seen most of my classmates (outside of Facebook pics) since the 80s. I want to look great.
The first step to get fit is getting out! Now that the weather is finally getting better, I plan on doing more walking and maybe some jogging. I also have dozens of fitness DVDs that have been collecting dust, because most of my workouts have been online.
Years ago I did a different DVD every day challenge. It was called 30 Day No Repeat. You can see the first week’s schedule here. I’m going to be doing that again. I will be doing the exact same schedule.
One of my favorite fitness gurus PJ Wren also included Omega-3 as one of the best vitamins you can take. Read her post here.
I’m taking flaxseed oil capsules, eating more fish (more sushi) and adding flaxseed to my food. I have less leg pain and I don’t get stiff after sitting for a while. So, I will be keeping Omega-3s in my diet permanently.
Can you believe it’s April already! I know it doesn’t feel like it, but it is spring. We had 6 inches of snow last week in Toronto. Yes, I know other parts of North America are dealing with the same thing. That groundhog was so wrong. I’m not listening to him anymore. Can I blame him for my lack of fitness motivation?!
This weather is killing my fitness motivation! It’s hard for me to get motivated when the weather is like this, but before you know it, it will be hot and I’ll be regretting my procrastination.
Last week I started to get back on track with some Yoga. It felt good to do a little something. If I want to get more toned, I have to start weight training and cardio. My favorite form of cardio is walking. I did a lot of that on my vacation and I wrote about it last week. The post is here.
I want to get outside more now. My body is craving it. I did look at the weather forecast for the next couple of weeks and it looks promising.
I’m drinking my protein shakes again. I made a really delicious one with pears, peaches, strawberries and banana. The protein powder I used is one of my favorites. You can read a review of it here. I also love using cashew milk in my smoothies. It adds a creaminess to it without a lot of calories. I reviewed one brand of cashew milk here.
I’m just taking it one day at a time. I have a couple of events I want to look good for. The first one is the Duran Duran concert in July. The second one is my high school reunion in August.

I haven’t worked out at all or watch my diet during our vacation. I had fun and gave myself a break. I didn’t worry about weight gain at all. I just ate what I wanted and walked a lot. It felt so good!
Spent our spring break New York, Boston and Easter weekend in my hometown, Chicago. Walking is my favorite form of cardio, so I loved keeping fit this way.
I haven’t been thinking much on about my body in the past month. I’ve been focusing on my mind and concentrating on my career. Changing my mindset.
It’s difficult changing careers in midlife. I have decided that maybe I need to change my way of thinking and have a more positive outlook.
Changing my mindset has been tough. I have a difficult time focusing on one thing. I have been keeping my meditation appointments every day for the past month. I’ve been doing some meditation every morning and at night before bed. When I meditate on a daily basis, things seem to go better in my life.
I think I’m getting more confident because recently I posted a review of a skin care product, Xtend-Life and I included a full picture of my face. Last year I wouldn’t have done that. You can read the review here.
The products from Xtend-Life have been some of the best I’ve ever used. I have been struggling with my skin due to perimenopause and cannot believe the changes. I’m sure like me you’ve tried many skin care products to revive dull skin. Some have worked and some have not. I have a ton of skin care products on my dresser and in my bathroom cabinet. So when I was asked to try Xtend-Lifeproducts I was excited, but wondered will these products end up cluttering up my bathroom cabinet with the rest of them.
I am going to be honest with you, I had never heard of Xtend-Life until recently.
While trying to write this blog post, I was overwhelmed by the amount of raw and natural ingredients in the products. If I highlighted them all, this blog post would be pages long. I am extremely impressed with the quality of these skin care products. Let me tell you a little about them.

I used the Foaming Facial Cleanser every morning and night for two weeks. The cleanser wasn’t irritating at all. The foam was smoothing and I looked forward to cleansing my skin every day. It rinsed easily from my skin and didn’t leave a film.

I love that it’s one cream you can use for day and night. The cream is light, doesn’t feel heavy or sticky. One of the key ingredients is Kanapa™ which was developed by the scientists at Xtend-Life to support healthy skin and reduce the signs of skin aging.
I used it two times a week. The granules are very small, almost like sand. After using it my skin looked and felt smoother. My skin is also more even and has a glow. The scrub contains apple exfoliating peel, grapeseed extract, kiwi fruit extract and Rhyolite Lava a mineral-rich volcano pumice that buffs to revive dull skin without scarring.
Zupafood for SKIN helps to increase hydration, reduce fine lines and wrinkles. It also protects against harsh weather (which is something we are experiencing now in Toronto) and lift sagging skin. The powder tastes ok. It kind of reminds me of strawberries. You have to make sure to put it in a blender or shaker. Just stirring it doesn’t mix it very well. I drank it once a day.
I am very happy to have tried these products from Xtend-Life. I am very impressed with the quality and the effort they take to acquire the best ingredients. My skin has been revived with Xtend-Life!

Hello, I wanted to just give you a quick update. I’ve been so busy with my online classes, blogs and being a stay-at-home mom, I’ve been neglecting to update. Sorry.
I am so happy the groundhog didn’t see his shadow. Although this hasn’t been a bad winter (knocks on wood), I’m ready for spring and spending more time outdoors.
I have started working out again. I’ve been doing the Fitnessblender.com FB Booty workout plan. I do that workout before lunch and I do the BodyRock Intermediate Bootcamp Workoutafter dinner. I’m so sedentary lately, that working out twice a day makes me feel better. It usually adds up to about 45 minutes of working out a day.
Also, I received some skin care products from xtendlife. I will be reviewing the products in a few weeks, but until then check out their website.
