This year has flown by. I can’t believe it has been so long since I’ve posted. Can you believe we’re halfway through the year. How did summer happen so quickly?
I know it has been awhile. I’ve been so busy with work. I have to admit, I really haven’t been focusing on diet and exercise. I just try to make sure I don’t eat too much and work out at least 5 days a week.
I have been trying to do more strength training because I’m getting older and it helps to increase my metabolism. Also I’ve been doing meditation almost every day.
I want to start focusing on my health in July. I would really like to stop using artificial sweeteners, eat clean and get on a regular workout schedule. I also would like to start running again. June has been a rainy month in Toronto. I’m hoping that July will be drier.
We are spending some time in Chicago again this summer. What are your plans for the summer? What are you doing to stay in shape this summer?
Yes, I know it’s been too long since I have written a post. Where have I been?! I never went anywhere, I’ve just been busy with clients. As I write this blog post, I have to laugh at myself. I’m always getting on my clients about not writing weekly blog posts. I tell them that it’s very important that your customers see your knowledge of certain issues.
2016 was a crazy year. It was my Year Of Yes. I took some risks and stepped outside of my comfort zone many times. I started working with small businesses managing their social media platforms. I love what I do. Looking for more clients (hint, hint). I’ll just leave my People Per Hour profile here. I am working on a new website too. This is something I didn’t think I would be doing last year at this time. What a difference a year makes.
About my weight loss journey. I haven’t really been concentrating on that. I’ve been trying to make wise decisions and not eat too much. I basically eat what I want, no snacking and I work out a lot less. I’m finding that my body has been responding to that. I have lost some weight and without depriving myself.
I do miss working out on a daily basis. Also as a woman of a certain age, I know I should be working out with weights more to build muscle. I will get back to doing that, but instead of working out for hours a day, I will do maybe 30-45 minutes per day. With my body I have discovered that less is more.
I will try to do monthly updates because weekly doesn’t seem to work for me. So I just want to say Happy New Year to everyone and let’s make this year better than last year!
Let me know how you’re doing and what you are planning to do to make this year better?
I haven’t been thinking much on about my body in the past month. I’ve been focusing on my mind and concentrating on my career. Changing my mindset.
It’s difficult changing careers in midlife. I have decided that maybe I need to change my way of thinking and have a more positive outlook.
Changing my mindset has been tough. I have a difficult time focusing on one thing. I have been keeping my meditation appointments every day for the past month. I’ve been doing some meditation every morning and at night before bed. When I meditate on a daily basis, things seem to go better in my life.
I think I’m getting more confident because recently I posted a review of a skin care product, Xtend-Life and I included a full picture of my face. Last year I wouldn’t have done that. You can read the review here.
The products from Xtend-Life have been some of the best I’ve ever used. I have been struggling with my skin due to perimenopause and cannot believe the changes. I have also noticed a change in my hair. It’s fuller and there was a spot along the hairline where hair hasn’t grown in a very long time. Hair is growing there now. That was a bonus!
Things are changing for me, slowly. My career in social media marketing hasn’t taken off like I hoped it would, but I have become more creative. I love posting my photos on Instagram. My travel photos got the attention of Travel, Set, Go. They have asked me to be an Ambassador. Check out my Instagram photos here. And be sure to follow me, I follow back.
If you want to know more about the deals with Travel, Set, Go or about becoming an Ambassador, go here.
I am also a DoYouYoga.com Ambassador and they have a great free mini Yoga course. This course will help you to get fitter, feel stronger and deepen your yoga practice, in just 7 days! To sign up please go here.
Do you meditate?! Do you think it helps in changing your mindset?! Do you believe that changing your mindset works in getting the life that you want?! Let me know in the comments below!
I’m in a rut. I need a change. I was reading an article about Shonda Rhimes and her book Year of Yes. Shonda Rhimes is the creator of the shows Grey’s Anatomy, Scandal and my favorite, How to Get Away With Murder. Shonda is an introvert like me and we like to stay in our comfort zone.
I am always shying away from things that I know I should do, but I am afraid to do. I have stepped out of my comfort zone a bit in 2015. I acquired my certificate in Social Media Management, volunteered at TIFF (Toronto International Film Festival) and contributed a couple of articles to Midlife Boulevard. I have also started advertising my social media services on Fiverr and PeoplePerHour.com.
I need to step out more, take more chances and be more confident. It’s easier said than done. My son said to me this morning “I know it’s difficult for you to come out of your comfort zone.” I have never said this to my son before. The fact that he knows this makes me want to do it even more! This is one of the reasons I’m writing this post, to hold myself accountable. Doing this project the Year Of Yes makes me very nervous and excited. I enjoy a challenge. This will be one of the biggest challenges for me ever!
I know the new year starts in a couple of weeks, but I want to start now. If I put it off, I’m afraid I won’t do it. No more procrastinating for me!
Will you join me, on my quest to say yes?! Is there anything you didn’t say yes to?! Do you regret it?! Tell me about in the comments section! Let me know if you decide to challenge yourself and say yes!
Love, love, love this time of year! Happy first day of fall everyone!
I just wanted to say hello and yes it has been a couple of months since I posted anything, but I have been really busy. After we moved to the new house we spent six weeks in Chicago. Then when we came back to Toronto we had to get the kids ready for going back to school.
So what have I been doing for the past two months?! I ate everything I wanted in Chicago and didn’t work out. You heard me right. I ate a lot of food and didn’t work out. And do you know what happened? I lost five pounds! Don’t ask me how that happened, I don’t have a clue. Below are just some of the foods I ate in Chicago.
I do want to get back to working out and eating better. It has been a challenge to get back on track. I decided to start slowly and joined Fitness With PJ’s 21 Day Fitness Makeover Plan. She will provide the participants with workouts, recipes and tips.
That’s it for now. I hope to be better with the updates now that life has slowed down a bit.
How are you celebrating fall?! Do you have some favorite fall rituals or recipes to share?!
Just a quick update from this past week. I’m loving the results I’m getting from combining the FB Abs Workout Program and the BodyRockTV Fat Burn Challenge. With these two programs combined my workout time is about 45 minutes. I plan to do another round of the FB Abs along with FB Booty next month.
Summer vacation season is here! Are you planning a road trip?! There’s a great way to in a workout along the way. Check it out here.
Recipe of the week made me weak in the knees when I saw it! Egg-free cookie dough made with chickpeas. Yes, it’s vegan and gluten-free. The recipe is here.
It’s time to say goodbye to this old blog I’ve had for four years. I’m
hoping with the blog revamp I can continue to talk about my journey with
you all and help you along the way as well. That was my goal when
starting this blog. I will have a new domain beautyfithealth.com. The revamp is scheduled for June 17.
Please feel free to connect with me via social media:
As for my diet, I’m sticking to my 80/20 rule. I have been trying to eat more fat burning foods like oatmeal, eggs, avocados, coconut oil and almonds. I’ve noticed that for me eating three meals with a couple of snacks, one in the midday before dinner and then a small one in the evening works best for me. If I eat every two to three hours like some have suggested, I gain weight.
Dates to remember:
The blog revamp is scheduled for June 17 and also our moving day is June 21st. We will be without wifi for a couple of days. So I will not be blogging around that time.
Recipe of the Week:
Well, it’s more like a recommendation. I’ve been working on a campaign with Martin’s Apple Chips. They’re a great snack to take with you when you’re on the go. I have them with yogurt at night to curb my cravings for something sweet. Check out their website here for other food ideas and recipes. You can find them in various stores in Ontario, but they will soon be available across Canada. You can also find them at your local Starbucks! If you live in Canada you can enter to win a spa getaway from Martin’s Apple Chips. Enter here.
My favorite picture I took in May and it’s also one of my favorite things about the old house. I will miss this beautiful chandelier.
It’s the last day in May. The year is almost half over. Can you believe it?! Not much new to report. Busy packing and moving things to the new house slowly. The big move will be later in June. Nervous and excited about it, Hoping to live in this new house for at least 10 years. The longest we ever lived in one place was four years.
So last week I did post a couple of things to my Facebook page. I received a package contain Subtle Green’s Vienne moisturizer. I will be trying that out for a few weeks before my review. You can find out more about Subtle Green’s products by visiting their website here.
Former Go Fit Gal PJ posted a tough Tank Top arms workout. Sleeveless season is here. It’s still not too late to get those arms toned. Check out the workout here.
I’m still doing the FitnessBlender.com FBabs program. Every time we move I find clothing that I haven’t tried on in years. About four weeks ago I tried on a pair of pants and a dress that were both snug around the waist. I tried them on again last week and they were less snug. Pleased with the progress. I will do another round of FBabs along with BodyRockTV’s Fat Burn Challenge. You can sign up for the challenge here. You know I love a good challenge!
Recipe of the Week: Snickerdoodle Protein Shake! Yes, I made this and was satisfied with the taste. It did remind me of a snickerdoodle. So I will be making it again. You can find the recipe here.
Dates to Remember:
Starting the FBabs program and BodyRockTV Fat Burn Challenge on June 1st.
The blog is scheduled to be moved over to WordPress in mid June. After that I hope to have more reviews for you! Thanks again for reading;-)
I think with each move packing gets more difficult. We are moving to a new house in June and I’m kind of behind with the packing. Another move I’m happy to tell you about is that my blog is moving from Blogger to WordPress. I’ve been wanting to do this for a while. Hopefully one day I’ll get to move my other blog too.
Summer will be here soon and last week I shared with you an article about some great ways to stay hydrated during the summer. The pictures of water are so pretty. I think it’s a much healthier way to make the water taste better. Check out the article here.
Also I shared avideo about the best belly fat burning foods. Some of these foods I’m sure you already have in your kitchen. You can watch the video here.
I just finished my second week on the Fitness Blender Abs workout plan. I love that the workouts are around 30 minutes a day. I’m so busy right now and I need a quick and effective workout. That’s exactly what I get from Fitness Blender.
Dates to remember:
I have some reviews coming to you but only after my blog has had its makeover. Thanks to Blogelina my blog will get a revamp as part of the #1000MomBlogMakeovers. So excited! The makeover is scheduled for mid-June!
I would like to thank you all for reading my blog. I will keep you updated about the launch date. I would love to hear from you as well. Please leave comments below. Thank you!
