BFH Quick Update

Ugh! So busy with Social Media Manager School, packing and now the landlord is starting to show the house we are living in now.  I also have a social media marketing client now. So coming up with a social media strategy and writing content has taken up a lot of time as well. Still trying to remain on track.

I was able to get out and walk more this week.  The weather has finally started to cooperate.  I missed going for long walks.  I’m forcing myself to walk more because I have noticed the past few weeks my Fitbit numbers have been down and I am more sedentary with school and working. I am thinking about starting one of Fitness Blenders new programs.  I will decide next week which one.  I’m looking at the FB Abs workout plan and it might be that one.

I’m still doing the Do You Yoga for Beginner Program and doing a little T-Tapp too.  I have stepped it up a bit with doing Fitness Blender workouts.  I feel better after a tough workout. My favorite Yoga workout from this week was day 23. You can find it below.

I don’t have a recipe for the week, but I’m falling in love with avocados again.  Putting them in everything from eggs, to salads,to smoothies, using it as a hair mask, spreading it on toast and of course guacamole! Avocados are so good for you! Read the benefits of eating avocado here

Dates to remember:

Mother’s Day is next Sunday May 10th. Don’t forget mama! I’ve already sent my card.

May 6th I will post a review of OZ Naturals Hyaluronic Acid Serum

This Week In BFH: The What Happened to Spring? Edition

Well it’s supposed to be spring but it doesn’t feel like
it.  Winter still has its grip on us. The week before I was wearing just a jacket outside. This week I had to break out the winter coats and hats. We checked the weather before leaving for our trip to Montreal last weekend. I believe it was 20 degrees colder than Accuweather predicted.  I know warm weather will be here eventually.  I just needed a bit of a whine.

This week in Beauty, Fitness and health

I received some sad news this week. The Go Fit Gals will be
ending their partnership. So I will no longer be a GFG Ambassador. Even though
they are ending their partnership Risse will continue to be a nutritionist and
I’m sure I will continue to post her recipes.
PJ is still a trainer that I will follow. I’ve removed almost everything GFG Ambassador  from my
websites and changed my Twitter name from GFGKelly to CravinChocolate. Because
I’m always craving chocolate.

I’ve been very busy,
but loving it.  I completed two reviews
for the blog this week.  The first review was of
the Fit and Fabulous in 15 Minutes with T-Tapp book.  I enjoyed reading the book and was very
inspired by the success stories.  You can
read the review here.

The second review was for ERA Ageless skin care.  I had never heard of this brand until a
few weeks ago.  The products were
great.  The best part of this skin care
brand is that they formulate the products for specific areas of the face. Read
the review here.

My favorite workouts this week.

And I was on the Twitter and saw that one of my all-time favorite trainers Kathy Smith has a walking program. Check it out here.

Recipe of the week:

This is one of my faves from the Go Fit Gals.
It’s called Avocado Baked Egg. I love pairing avocados and eggs.  Tons of protein and healthy fats.  Keeps me full for hours!  Recipe right here.

Dates to remember:

I don’t have any specific dates for them, but more reviews
are coming.  Also hoping to have more
giveaways.  Stay tuned!

Hoping spring has sprung where you are!

I Need More Time!

I need more time

This week in Beauty, Fitness and Health has gone by too fast for me! I need more time in the day!  I’m packing for our move to the new house, started Social Media Marketing School, reviewing products and to top it all off, I’m a mom! Just being a mom I’m crazy busy anyway.

This week I reviewed another amazing OZ Naturals product.  The Vitamin C Serum has added a glow to my skin that I didn’t think was possible. Check out the review here. Stay tuned for more reviews of OZ Naturals products!

The Derma Roller System giveaway ended. The winner was Christina G. I’m working on some more giveaways for the future! Stay tuned!

My Workouts: This week I did a lot of walking because the weather here in Toronto has been great!  I’ve also stepped up my workouts. I’m still doing T-Tapp a few days a week along with the Do You Yoga Beginners workouts, but I’m also getting my sweat on.  Here are a couple of my favorites from the week.

Recipe of the week  actually comes from me!  I was asked by the DailyBurn to create a protein shake for the #ShowUsYourShake campaign.  Check out the recipe for Chocolately Goodness here.

Dates to remember:

My review of the ERA Ageless Skin Care Starter Kit 4/23/15. Find out more about ERA Ageless here.

This Week in Beauty, Fitness & Health

meditation calming

I love this picture! It’s so calming after a busy week!

Hope you all had a great week.  My week was very busy.  The kids were in a play so we had to get up early for rehearsals and stay late for the performances.  The kids were so happy to be able to stay up past their bedtime.  It was an exciting time for them, but now it’s over. Back to reality!

This week in Beauty, Fitness and Health I found a mask from Jovanka Ciares that I really want to try.  It kind of reminds me of a hair mask from the Body Shop I used all the time in the 90s.  The main ingredient was bananas. It did wonderful things for my hair. I used to get so many compliments. Here’s the video:

I also reviewed the Nivea In-Shower Body Lotion for my other blog The Elements of Review. This product has made me so happy.  Now I don’t have to worry about forgetting to moisturize after my shower.  Check out the review here.

This week I reposted one of my most popular posts for Throwback Thursday.  It was from a guest blogger Sandy Getzky.  The post 10 Ways to Make a Workout Fly By gives us tips on how to make working out more enjoyable. Read the post here

Fitness: Mind and Body:

Still doing the T-Tapp workout, but missing my old way of working out, if you can believe it. So next week I think I will step up my workouts again. I lost about 4 inches overall in the past two weeks. If you’re curious about T-Tapp you can find out more here.

The Do You Yoga Beginner’s workouts are great and showing me that I have terrible balance. Learning a lot from this challenge. You can still sign up here

Completed the Deepak Chopra and Oprah meditation challenge.  I feel more confident in myself after doing it.

Recipe of the Week is from PJ of the Go Fit Gals. It’s 3 ingredient pancakes! Just mix together 1/2 banana, 1/4 cup egg whites and a scoop of your favorite protein powder. Next cook like you would a regular pancake and eat! Simple!

Dates to remember:

The review of the OZ Naturals Vitamin C Serum is written and ready to be published, but I’m waiting on the approval from OZ Naturals. I’m sorry, I really wanted to post it on 4/10 like I said I would. Hopefully I will be able to post it early next week.

Derma Roller System Giveaway winner will be announced 4/15/15. Enter the giveaway here!

This Week in Beauty, Fitness & Health! February 23-27, 2015

I’m winter weary but I love this picture

I’m always looking for
ways to boost my metabolism.  I found this
on apple cider vinegar and it has a couple of recipes. I never thought to put the ACV on sweet potato chips. I made them and they were delish.  I make my own sweet potato chips often and
this is a good way to get more ACV in my diet.

Another great way to
get the metabolism going is to drink Matcha green tea.  It has so many health benefits and tastes
great. I like putting it in smoothies too.
I wrote  a review for Matcha DNA Green Tea on my other blog The Elements of Review. You can read the review
Just discovered
Thrive Market. Thrive Market has wholesome products (including organic and
natural) for wholesale prices. The products are delivered directly to your
door. Check out my review here!
Had a terrific Worth
It Wednesday
. Read about it here.
Favorite Workouts of the Week Here:
                    Active Recovery Cardio
20-Minute High Energy Workout with Spotify

Featured workout DVDKathy Smith Weight Loss Workout DVD was one of the first workout videos I ever bought back in the early
1990s. It has cardio and strength. The workout is broken into sections. You can
do them all or just a few. I liked this workout VHS tape so much I bought it on
DVD. It’s great for beginners and if you want to make it more advanced you can
use heavier dumbbells.

Recipe of the week:
Apple Cider Vinegar Chips from the article located at the beginning of the post.
Sweet Potato Chips with ACV

This Week in Beauty, Fitness & Health: February 16-20, 2015

This week went by very quickly. I’m tired of winter. Can we have spring now?! I attended a great interactive webinar by the Go Fit Gals. The webinar was about Fitness and Menopause. Lots of useful information in this webinar. You can view it below:

Speaking of menopause, I’m in peri-menopause right now and I’m all about getting rid of my belly. There was an article this week about burning more belly fat while on a run.  Of course they mention intervals. That’s really the only way I do cardio now.  It’s either HIIT or Tabata for me. Read the article here to find more tips.

I’m not the only one using serums now. Serums seem to be all the rage in skin care. This article Does Your Skin Need A Serum? lists some of the best serums, the benefits and how to use them. I’m using a product from Palmer’s right now that I really like. It has Retinol, Vitamin E and Vitamin C.

I started a detox this week. I found this detox on Jovanka Ciares Facebook page. It’s a 3 day winter detox. I thought I would give it a try. The first day went great. The next morning I could barely function. After I took the kids to school, I basically just stayed on the couch for several hours. I was nauseous, my eyes were watery and my head felt like it was going to explode.

The only detox I have completed successfully was the Go Fit Gals 3 Day Reset  I would feel great the first day. Second day in the morning I would feel like I had the flu, but by the afternoon I would feel fine.  Check out the results from when I completed the 3 Day Reset for the first time here. That didn’t happen with the Jovanka Ciares detox.  So in order to be able to get off the couch and pick up the kids from school, I had to cut it short. I felt bad about not completing it, but I didn’t expect my body to react in that way.

I did notice some good things after the detox. My belly was flatter and I didn’t have any bloating.

Another week where I didn’t work out as much as I would have liked.  I did work out tho;-)  I did a couple of the workouts from the Belly Burn Challenge and continued with the Meditation Challenge. Here are my top 3 workouts this week:

Uptown Funk Abs

Go Fit Gals 20 Minute No Excuses Workout

                                                     Full Potential Detox Yoga Practice

Recipe of the week is from Jovanka Ciares. It’s a Turmeric Drink. Great for these cold evenings. It has anti-oxidants and anti-inflammatory compounds.   It’s also delicious. I enjoyed it more than I thought I would. It also satisfied my sweet tooth or teeth;-) You can find the recipe here.  I added a couple more dates than the recipe called for because the ones I had were kind of small and I added some vanilla.

Turmeric Milk

Dates to remember:

I will post of review of the Palmer’s Cocoa Butter Formula Skin Therapy Oil on February 28.

Yoga Shred begins March 1st.

Go Fit Gals are having another webinar on March 17.  It’s about Science, Sleep and Sanity. Go to to sign up!

This Week In Beauty, Fitness & Health: February 9-13, 2015

Cold Toronto
It has been very cold here in Toronto. It’s making me miss Vancouver…well the mild winters. I was sick for much
of the week. Glad the kids have a four day weekend, so I can rest and get better.
I did read a few good articles. My favorite was the 25 Ways Apple Cider Vinegar Will Change Your Life.  ACV is something I
need to keep on hand all of the time. It can be used for household chores, weight
loss, skin care, you name it!  Check out this morning drink from the The Crunchy Moose. I tried it and it doesn’t taste too bad. It’s the perfect drink to start your day off right!
I’ve been focusing on my eyes quite a bit lately.  I don’t have many wrinkles on my face, but my
eyes are starting to show their age. Allure posted an article Eye Creams Our Editors Swear By. This is something I need to invest in sooner than later.  Also I don’t usually wear makeup unless I’m
going out.  This article from Allure 5 Genius Makeup Tricks For Glasses-Wearers is great. I will make use of my eyelash
curler that has been collecting dust in my drawer. Stat!
Recipe of the week:
This week I have two. First it’s the Go Fit Gals Clean Eating Salad. The second
is Twice-Baked Spaghetti Squash from Kalyn’s Kitchen.  Now this is a clean eating meal! Perfect for date night!
This is where I usually
put my 3 favorite workouts for the week. Because I was sick, I didn’t work
out.  I did continue with the Do You Yoga Meditation Challenge. I look forward to those 10 minutes every day!
Make sure to check
out my review of the Derma Roller System.
Dates to Remember:
The Go Fit Gals are
having another webinar on Feb 17. This time it’s about Fitness and Menopause. Sign up
Also Feb 17 is Fat Tuesday which means Lent begins on Feb 18. I’m thinking about giving up meat. Also thought about giving up coffee, but that’s not happening.

March 1st– I will begin the Do You Yoga 14
Day Yoga Shred
. Find out more about it and sign up here

This Week In Beauty, Fitness & Health: February 2-6, 2015

This week I read some interesting articles including one on
how to sculpt muscles faster. I’ve been trying to do more strength training and
vary my weights. I’m such a cardio junkie. I did manage to get two strength
training workouts in this week. Yay me!

This article on how to stop the after dinner cravings had
some great tips. I’ve been increasing my protein intake and drinking tea in the
evening. A couple of other things that work for me are brushing my teeth and
living in a three story house. After climbing those stairs all day, I don’t
want to go down anymore. Not even for a piece of cake! LOL

Another great article on how artificial sweeteners are evil.
Artificial sweeteners are in so many products nowadays. It’s difficult to keep
them out of your diet and they can cause weight gain. Check out the article

Getting ready to spring ahead with some rosy lipstick
shades. You can see the lovely shades here. I’m going hunting for a couple of
them soon! Also one of my favorite beauty bloggers Afrobella just released
her 2015 Beauty and Health Trends Forcast.

Beyonce has done it again and is starting a vegan food delivery service. It’s plant-based and I’m really curious about it.  For the 22 day plan it’s about 99.00. Not a
bad price.

I’m still using the Derma Roller and really excited about
writing the review. Began the Do You Yoga 30 Day Meditation Challenge. Every
time I complete a meditation I post it to my Facebook page. Let me know if you’re
doing it too! I also started the Belly Burn Challenge.I receive a belly burn workout every other day along with diet tips.

Recipe of the week is the one from PJ one half of the Go Fit Gals. It’s a pretty simple recipe. Just roasted vegetables, Parmesan cheese and baked tofu. Here’s the pic and very easy recipe here

Here are my 3 favorite workouts of the week:

Go Fit Gals Total Body Strength Workout

40 Min. Sports Themed Tabata Workout-Millionaire Hoy

Fitness Blender’s Advanced Functional Strength, Balance and Core Workout

For the past few years, I’ve been doing online workouts. I
have neglected my 80+ workout DVDs. So I decided to do one a week and feature
it here.  Bob Harper Body Rev Cardio
Conditioning.  I actually reviewed it a few
of years ago and you can find that review here. Tough workout, but I’m
definitely stronger and have more endurance than I had five years ago.

Dates to remember:

I’ve been using the Derma Roller for a
couple of weeks now. I hope to have a review online Feb. 14.

Speaking of Feb 14, don’t forget the ones you love;-) Valentine’s Day!

March 1st– I will begin the Do You Yoga 14
Day Yoga Shred
. Find out more about it and sign up here.

This Week in Beauty, Fitness & Health…Oh My!: January 26-30, 2015

This week we learned about nutrition during peri-menopause and menopause via a Go Fit Gals webinar. They discussed specific foods you should eat, also to stay away from and supplements that can help with menopausal symptoms. The full webinar can be seen here.

I also read a great article on the most powerful superfoods. Included in the article are some delicious recipes.  Also read about Vegan Beauty Tips. Just in time for the extreme winter weather. This week I blogged about my favorite oils. You can read the blog post here.

Started using the Derma Roller and so far I’m pleased with the results.  I want to use it about 4 times a week.  I plan to reveal the results in a couple of weeks in a blog post review.

I was short on time this week and needed some quick, but effective workouts. My top 3 online workout videos released this week are:

Recipe of the week is one from the Go Fit Gals and it’s a good choice to make for Super Bowl Sunday. It’s Chicken Tortilla-Less Soup. It’s clean-eating comfort food.

Important dates to remember: I will be starting the Do You Yoga 30 Day Meditation Challenge on Feb 1st. If you are interested sign up here.

If you liked the Nutrition and Menopause Webinar then you will also like “Fitness & Menopause: How To Turn Yourself Into A Fat-Burning MachineTuesday, Feb 17th at 7:00pm (PST). I’m sure the Go Fit Gals  will be asking people to start signing up soon.
