I Didn’t Worry About Weight Gain During My Vacation

I haven’t worked out at all or watch my diet during our vacation.  I had fun and gave myself a break.   I didn’t worry about weight gain at all.  I just ate what I wanted and walked a lot.  It felt so good!

Spent our spring break New York, Boston and Easter weekend in my hometown, Chicago. Walking is my favorite form of cardio, so I loved keeping fit this way.

 


My Fitbit has died.  Luckily I was able to track my steps with the Google Fit App.  I don’t have to open the app to use it.  It keeps track of the steps on my phone and tablet while in my purse.

It’s so simple to use.  The app also tells you how many calories you burn, active time and distance.

I know that I will have to get back on track soon.  I have a high school reunion in Chicago in August.

I’m Finally Back!!!

These past few weeks have been crazy busy, getting the new house unpacked and now we’re getting ready for our trip to Chicago.  I wanted to just stop for a minute and give you an update.

I’ve been working out steadily, almost every day.  I’ve started another round of the Fitness Blender Abs Program and added the Fitness Blender Booty Program.  I really like that you can just add the programs directly to the calender on their website.  So you know exactly what workouts to do that day. We will be staying with my mom and I don’t think she has any heavy dumbbells. So, I’m thinking of getting the Fitness Blender Bodyweight Program to do while we’re there.

I think I’m ready for Chicago.  I tried a few things on that were a little tight a couple of months ago.  They fit a bit better.   I’m still struggling with my diet and I have a feeling it won’t get any better in Chicago, but I will try not to overeat.

Gaiam TV Review

14 Day Spring Cleaning Challenge

I’ve had the pleasure of reviewing Gaiam TV streaming video subscription for about a month. I have enjoyed trying out the workouts and meditation videos. The 14 Day Spring Cleaning Challenge was a lot of fun. It introduced me to different types of Yoga and meditation. Gaiam TV has hundreds of videos. There is so much to choose from, it’s kind of overwhelming. A good overwhelming like DSW shoe stores. It has videos from Jillian Michaels, Leslie Sansone, Mari Winsor and Rodney Yee. I also found some new faves like Tanja Djelevic, Patricia Moreno and Sara Ivanhoe. When I first heard of Gaiam TV I thought it was just an online channel of workout videos, but it’s much more. There are TV series, films, original programming and documentaries including one of my recent favorites Fat, Sick and Nearly Dead.

I highly recommend Gaiam TV.

No Gain, Just Maintain Update Week 2

These weeks are just flying by.  It feels like I was just here updating you on week one.  It was extremely hot here in Chicago this past week.  It was at least 100 degrees 3 days in a row.  If it wasn’t 100 it was in the 90s. So, I didn’t get a chance to do my HIIT run at all.  This week is supposed to be in the 80s.  I will try to get it in this week.  I did complete all the other workouts.

My diet has been good.  I haven’t strayed really at all.  Except I did have some cake for dessert 2 days this week.  Otherwise I’m basically eating like I did before I got here.  There will be a huge test on Thursday the 12th.  I’m going to the Taste of Chicago that day.  This is my favorite Chicago festival.  I intend to enjoy myself sampling all sorts of foods.  I like to stick to the Taste Portions.  They are usually smaller and cheaper than a regular sized portion.

This next week will contain the same workouts as last week, but in a different order.  This is the last week of the Mamavation 2 week challenge.  I’m doing the beginner workout and these DVDs for No Gain, Just Maintain week 3!

No Gain, Just Maintain Update Week 1

This week has been crazy busy, but I have found time for fitness.  I haven’t gone overboard with my eating.  Granted, I’ve only been in Chicago a few days.  The point of this challenge is not to lose weight, but to maintain what I have worked so hard for since January 2012.  The big test will be when I go downtown later this week and I’m face to face with some of my favorite cupcake shops. My mom has been great about having healthy food in the house.  I have been logging in to MyFitnessPal.com every day to make sure I’m staying within my calorie range.

I have a new workout DVD!  I got Jillian Michaels’ Kickbox FastFix.  I really like it. Especially levels 1&2.  Will be reviewing it soon on my review blog The Elements of Review. I’ve added this one to my rotation.  The next several weeks will be a challenge to get my workouts in because I will be taking the kids back and forth to camp.  And when they aren’t at camp I will have to keep them entertained.  My kids (like many other kids) get bored easily. Next week my schedule will include Mamavation workouts.  I’m sure there will be plenty of burpees to do.  So, I have scheduled workouts this week that include burpees so I can make sure to get them done.

Final Ten For The Win Update: Week 1

This week it hasn’t been too difficult getting in two workouts a day.  Doing the cardio in the morning and the Mamavation strength training workout in the afternoon.  I’ll stick to the same schedule this week because the Mamavation workout requires 30 burpees.  Most of the cardio workouts I did last week includes a burpee section.  It makes it easier for me to get them done if I do them with a workout DVD instead of trying to do them on my own.  Don’t like burpees at all.  Anyway, the same workout schedule next week.  This will be the last week for the Mamavation challenge.
